Joy is a current contributor to Getty Images & Variety Magazine. She photographs live events and has covered everything from parties at the Cannes Film Festival, Major Award Shows (Emmys, Golden Globes), Red Carpets Events, Corporate Events, Comedy Shows and more with her Sony A7R4, Sony FX3 & Lightroom.
Joy discovered her passion for visual storytelling early in life when her father gifted her a Kodak Instamatic X-15 (a fancy name for a point, click and wind camera.) This allowed her to arrange her stuffed animals in tableaus, snap photos (then wait three weeks to get them back!!) then narrate stories to her family in the living room.
Joy entered the University of Texas in the early 2000’s to hone her skills as a journalist/photojournalist. She eventually took her images and began performing with them on stage as part of the Austin comedy scene. Joy was scouted to perform for HBO’s Comedy Arts Festival & Just For Laughs and moved to Los Angeles to begin her acting career.
Joy was cast in many TV pilots before she landed the lead in “Good Girls Don’t” for Carsey-Werner-Mandabach (“That 70’s Show”) and Oprah Winfrey on the Oxygen Network. After acting in many projects over the years…
Joy chose to go behind the scenes to produce and direct.
Joy is a 2019 Ryan Murphy Half Foundation mentee and a graduate of AFI’s prestigious “Directing Workshop for Women” where she received acclaim for her short film “18” (starring Portia Doubleday, MR. ROBOT), which was also a finalist for Best Short at the Austin Film Festival and featured in Filmmaker Magazine as “Top 25 Filmmakers to Watch” for Excellence in Directing & Cinematography.
Joy spent many years involved in the comedy community, touring
stand-up, improv, sketches around the world. She has also produced and coordinated live comedy shows at The Improv Olympic, UCB, Improv, Comedy Store, the Edinburgh Fringe and more. She has also produced shows in many different countries and for television, including for HBO. You may still catch her performing now and then for fun.

Joy has written, produced, directed and/or edited dozens of film shorts, web series, commercials and social media content for brands such as Taco Bell, P90X, Hot Pockets, Airbnb, Adidas, Kygries, Lucy Folk, Weather Channel, European Tourism, FunnyorDie.com, corporate clients (please ask) and many others. She produced the film “Play Nice” starring MaryLynn Rajskub (“24”) for Hulu. She is currently documenting the rise of stand-up comedy in Europe & Asia.
